DAY 1 – Rishikesh to Govind Ghat

  • Your adventure begins with a group pickup from Rishikesh early morning.
  • Our staff will escort you in a pre-booked vehicle and take you on a stunning 10–12 hour drive via Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Joshimath.
  • You’ll arrive at Govind Ghat by evening, where your accommodation in a neat and cozy hotel has already been arranged.
  • Enjoy dinner, a short trek briefing and rest for the night.

DAY 2 –Govind Ghat to Ghangaria – Trek Begins (13 km)

  • Early morning breakfast and then start the trek to Ghangaria.
  • Depending on traffic and permissions, we may drive a short distance to Pulna to reduce the walking by 3 km.
  • The route is picturesque along rivers, waterfalls and apricot trees.
  • Our qualified trek leaders and support team will accompany you all the time.
  • Midway lunch.
  • After 5–6 hours, we’ll reach Ghangaria and check into your pre-booked hotel.
  • Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3 – Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers and Back (10 km)

  • After breakfast, we’ll start early towards the majestic Valley of Flowers.
  • Entry passes will be arranged by our team.
  • A short walk followed by a gradual climb will take you to the valley which will be filled with hundreds of wildflower species, streams, and snowy landscapes.
  • There you’ll have plenty of time to wander around, take photographs, and unwind.
  • After a packed lunch in the valley, we’ll return to Ghangaria by late afternoon.
  • Evening tea, dinner and night stay.

DAY 4 – Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and Back (10 km)

  • This is a challenging but satisfying day as we start by 6 AM.
  • Breakfast and packed snacks will be served.
  • We’ll trek up to Hemkund Sahib, the world’s highest Gurudwara at 14,200 ft, situated amidst a glacial lake.
  • Hot tea and langar await you at the top.
  • After some time enjoying soaking in the serene vibes, we’ll return to Ghangaria by afternoon.
  • Evening snacks, dinner, and rest.

DAY 5 – Ghangaria to Govind Ghat (13 km Descent)

  • After breakfast, we’ll begin our descent. The walk down is gentle and scenic.
  • Upon reaching Govind Ghat, you’ll check into your hotel and enjoy a hot lunch.
  • Spend your evening relaxing, reflecting, or exploring the local area.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 6 – Govind Ghat to Rishikesh – Return Journey

  • After a warm breakfast, we’ll leave early for Rishikesh in a pre-arranged vehicle.
  • On our way back, you may enjoy the breathtaking vistas for one last time.
  • Drop-off at Rishikesh in the evening with the trek finally coming to an end.

How Difficult is the Valley of Flowers Trek?

  • By no means too easy, by no means too hard. It is appropriate for beginners and they should do some preparation and fitness.
  • The valley itself about 12,000 ft. altitude will produce slight symptoms of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) to some.
  • Requires anywhere between 6 up to 10 km walking per day in a span of several days.
  • Steep, stony and very slippery in monsoon. Not technical climbing, but footwork can be challenging.
  • In particular, in the Hemkund Sahib trail (a 6 km steep one-way uphill). An individual needs stamina to do this trek.
  • Weather problems that are frequent are rainy weather.
  • The period between July and August is the monsoon season. Waterproof clothing and shoes are needed.
  • The hike starts at about 6,000 ft and rises fast. It is difficult to acclimate when paced poorly.
  • Adequate cardio fitness is sufficient (can walk uphill 5-6km comfortably).
  • Ghangaria has very little medical support. Evacuation is needed in any serious case.
  • One can hire porters, ponies and mules to carry the bags or carry tired trekkers.

These are documents required for legal purposes by Himalaya Tribe and the forest department. Without any of these, you will not be allowed to trek.

  1. Original and photocopy of government photo identity card. Anything such as a driver’s license, Aadhar Card, or passport will do. This is required by the forest department for your identification.  
  2. Medical and Disclaimer certificate. There are two sections to this. One is to be filled by a practicing doctor and the second is filled by you. The disclaimer certificate is a legal requirement.
    Download the PDF, read carefully, print it back to back, and sign it. This must be handed over to your Trek Leader during the registration at the base camp. This is a requirement by both the forest department and Himalaya Tribe

Carry these medicines with you, easily accessible at all times.

    1. Diamox (1 Strip): Be on a course of a half tablet of Diamox starting from Delhi every 12 hours (125 mg). Carry on the medication until you descend to Kotgaon. Being on a preventive course of Diamox greatly reduces the chances of Acute Mountain Sickness on the Har Ki Dun trek
    2. Dolo 650 (5 tablets): This is a paracetamol. It helps to tackle fever, mild pain
    3. Avomine (4 tablets): Carry this especially if you are prone to motion sickness. Pop one-half hour before the start of your road journey.
    4. Combiflam (5 tablets): Take a combiflam if you get a sudden twist of the leg
      or a muscle strain. It is a pain reliever. It also contains paracetamol.
    5. Digene (4 tablets): Take it if you feel the food that you’ve taken is undigested. Alert your trek leader immediately. It could be a sign of AMS.
    6. ORS (6 packs): Consume a pack of ORS water at least once a day, usually mid-
      day when you are in the middle of your trek. It replenishes essential salts
      lost while trekking. Tip: It also makes cold water easier to drink.
    7. Knee Brace (optional): Carry this if you are prone to knee injury or have known issues of knee pain.
