PHULARA RIDGE ADVENTURE: A HIGH-ALTITUDE ESCAPE

To start with, ridge treks are quite rare in our country, with only a few available. During our exploration of the Phulara Ridge trek in April 2018, we stumbled upon what seems to be one of the most exceptional ridge treks.

A ridge is essentially the point where two sides of a mountain come together. Walking on a ridge is akin to balancing on a narrow knife-edge, with the mountain’s slopes dropping sharply on either side of you. While there are brief ridge sections on a few Himalayan treks, the Phulara Ridge trek offers a full day’s worth of ridge walking, which is truly unparalleled.

If you’ve ever embarked on a summit climb, you’re aware that you typically spend only about 20-30 minutes at the highest point, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. However, on the Phulara Ridge trek, you’ll find yourself at an elevated altitude of 12,000 feet for a full day’s trek, spanning approximately 4-5 hours!

Throughout this journey, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking 250-degree panorama of snow-capped mountains that accompanies you every step of the way. It almost feels as though these majestic mountains are trekking alongside you as you follow the meandering curve of the ridge. Below, the terrain slopes down on either side – one side leading to a serene meadow and the other descending into a picturesque valley. This is what sets the Phulara Ridge trek apart, offering a truly unique and unforgettable experience.
