DAY 01 Pickup to you from Rishikesh railway station morning at 7:30 am – Drive to Chopta Camp – 202 Km (7/8 Hours (2,012 Meters) overnight stay camp.

The route from Rishikesh to Chopta is a scenic one, taking you through the beautiful countryside of Uttarakhand. Here are some highlights of the journey:

DAY 02 Chopta to Tungnath Chandrashila Peak summit 4130 m back to Sari village

The trek from Chopta to Tungnath and Chandrashila Peak is popular and relatively easy in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. Here are some highlights of the trek:

  1. Distance: The trek from Chopta to Tungnath Temple is about 3.5 km and takes around 2-3 hours to complete. From Tungnath Temple, the trek to Chandrashila Peak is about 1.5 km and takes around 1 hour to complete.
  2. Stunning Views: The trek offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch, and Chaukhamba. The views from the summit of Chandrashila Peak are particularly breathtaking and make for great photo opportunities.

DAY 03 Sari village to Deorital explore the valley and back to road head same day Drive from Sari to Rishikesh.

Start your trek after having breakfast, the trail from Sari is well-defined, it is maintained and is made up of rocks when you go further you can see some houses and a temple on the way.

After some time the trail will get steep and when you go higher you can have a glance of Chandrashila Peak and Tungnath temple as the forest is cleared. As you go higher on the mountain you will see a Hawa Ghar made up by the forest department, so that people going higher can relax there and can enjoy the views from there so you can rest there for some time and relish the beauty of that place.

Now, the trail is covered by Rhododendrons and Maple trees, walk under the shade of trees, continue walking, you will get some valley views as you come nearer to your destination. Walk downhill and you will reach Deoria Tal, you can see the flowers blooming, birds chirping as there are a variety of Himalayan birds there. Alluring greenery will relax your mind.

Drive from to Rishikesh (220 km) (7/8 Hours) you will reach Rishikesh between 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

These are documents required for legal purposes by Himalaya Tribe and the forest department. Without any of these, you will not be allowed to trek.

  1. Original and photocopy of government photo identity card. Anything such as a driver’s license, Aadhar Card, or passport will do. This is required by the forest department for your identification.  
  2. Medical and Disclaimer certificate. There are two sections to this. One is to be filled by a practicing doctor and the second is filled by you. The disclaimer certificate is a legal requirement.
    Download the PDF, read carefully, print it back to back, and sign it. This must be handed over to your Trek Leader during the registration at the base camp. This is a requirement by both the forest department and Himalaya Tribe

Carry these medicines with you, easily accessible at all times.

    1. Diamox (1 Strip): Be on a course of a half tablet of Diamox starting from Delhi every 12 hours (125 mg). Carry on the medication until you descend to Kotgaon. Being on a preventive course of Diamox greatly reduces the chances of Acute Mountain Sickness on the Har Ki Dun trek
    2. Dolo 650 (5 tablets): This is a paracetamol. It helps to tackle fever, mild pain
    3. Avomine (4 tablets): Carry this especially if you are prone to motion sickness. Pop one-half hour before the start of your road journey.
    4. Combiflam (5 tablets): Take a combiflam if you get a sudden twist of the leg
      or a muscle strain. It is a pain reliever. It also contains paracetamol.
    5. Digene (4 tablets): Take it if you feel the food that you’ve taken is undigested. Alert your trek leader immediately. It could be a sign of AMS.
    6. ORS (6 packs): Consume a pack of ORS water at least once a day, usually mid-
      day when you are in the middle of your trek. It replenishes essential salts
      lost while trekking. Tip: It also makes cold water easier to drink.
    7. Knee Brace (optional): Carry this if you are prone to knee injury or have known issues of knee pain.

The Chopta Trek is rated Easy, making it suitable for beginners and families, while still offering a fulfilling adventure for experienced trekkers. The trails are well-marked, though certain sections—especially the climb to Chandrashila summit—can be steep and more challenging.

The Chopta Trek requires a moderate level of physical fitness. Trekkers should be comfortable walking 6-7 hours daily over varied terrain. Prior trekking experience or regular physical activities such as jogging, running, or cycling will definitely help prepare you for the journey.

Pack essentials like trekking shoes, warm clothing, rain gear, a backpack, water bottles, a first aid kit, sunscreen, and a hat. Make sure to pack light but include all necessary items

Sturdy shoes with good grip and water resistance are recommended. Crampons and gaiters are provided for specific trail conditions.
